Workshop at Grace United Church

On Saturday 4th February we attended a choral workshop at Grace United Church in Dartmouth. The helpful and thoroughly enjoyable event was  led by Dr. Mark Sirett and arranged by Malcolm Bradley.

The photos show us gathering after a warm-up, working with Mark on improving our vowel sounds, and assembling with Nova Voce for a combined choir rendition of “Ave, Maris Stella”. It was a great experience and we came away with many good tips for improvement, and things to think about and work on. It was also a privilege to sing with and also listen to Nova Voce. What a great choir!

Many thanks to Mark, Malcolm, and Grace United Church for the event

January House Rehearsal in West Petpeswick

We held our first House Rehearsal of the season on a snowy evening in West Petpeswick. Many thanks to Charlie and Betty-Anne Gaetz for hosting the Choir and the guests, and for the welcome refreshments. This was only our third rehearsal of this season’s all-Canadian program. We are making steady progress. Thank you audience for your tolerance and understanding!

One of the photos shows John leading and accompanying his new composition “Voices Answering Back: The Vampires”, commissioned by the Choir. It is a privilege to be able to participate with the composer in the steps to bring this work to performance.

House Rehearsal April 21, 2016

A great House Rehearsal yesterday evening in East Ship Harbour. Many thanks to Bill and Mary Ann Gilbert for opening their home to the choir and guest audience, and for the lovely refreshments after the singing. In addition to reviewing some favourite material from our last concert, the audience was very gracious and patient as we “note-bashed” some new sections and tackled less familiar material we hope to perform in concert soon! Thank you again.
