Hail the 2017 Season!

Coastal Voices Men’s Choir is excited to be starting the 2017 season with an all Canadian themed repertoire in honour of Canada’s 150th Birthday, and including a newly commissioned work by our very own accompanist and composer, John Plant. Rehearsals start on 5th January. As in previous years, these run on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harbour Lites Seniors Club, 167 Meaghers Grant Road, Musquodoboit Harbour, and at House Rehearsals along the Eastern Shore on selected dates.

We are always on the lookout for and welcome new Choir members. The membership fee is $50 for the season, $25 for students. Anyone interested in joining should please contact Allan Banks at 902-889-3179. Vocal coaching help/voice lessons are available for support.

Please check this page and our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/coastalvoicesmenschoir/ for details of our upcoming activities and events.

We look forward to a great season.

Coastal Dawn Daylily Fundraiser

We are pleased to report the news from Allan BanksCoastal_Dawn that Harbour Breezes Daylilies has sold out of the fundraising daylily ‘Coastal Dawn’ developed at Harbour Breezes and named by the men of the choir. No more will be available for a couple of years until the stock increases. A big thanks to everyone who helped to support the choir via this campaign, and to Allan for this fundraising initiative.

Songs of Sea and Shore, Sensibility and Satire – June 5th Concert

We had a great appreciative audience for our end-of-season concert yesterday evening at First United Church in Musquodoboit Harbour. Thank you for your support!

Also a special thanks to Rowan Wilson-Henkelman for her wonderful solo pieces accompanied by John Plant, and including “Rise Again” performed with the Choir, and to Ro Evans for his steadfast support playing guitar for “Hit the Road, Jack!” with Blair Lopes, Janet Gaskin, and back-up singers.

Many thanks also for “insider” solo performances by our bass singer/songwriter Jim Reid with his own composition “Love’s Like That”, and by our accompanist John Plant for Mozart’s Variations on …. a tune well known in children’s songs! It was also a privilege and great fun to sing John’s arrangement for the Choir of “I Am So Proud” from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Mikado”.

The Choir continues to develop thanks to the tremendous leadership of Music Director Janet Gaskin and Chairman/Assistant Music Director Allan Banks, and with the brilliant support of Accompanist John Plant. We look forward to next season.
